Website Content Writing Services
Most website copy is written from the inside out. The business describes what it does, in the words it uses internally, on pages organised by how the company is structured. It reads fine and it converts and ranks badly, because nobody is searching for an org chart.
Writing from the outside in means each page starts from a question someone actually types, answers it in the first two sentences, and then earns the rest of the reader’s attention. This page covers how we scope, structure and price that work.
| Price | £129 per page |
|---|---|
| Governing rule | One page, one target query, one action |
| Typical turnaround | Three to five working days per page |
| Includes | Meta title and description, heading structure, internal links |
| Research | Keyword and intent mapping before writing |
| Revisions | One round included |
Page types and what each has to do
A website is not one kind of writing. Each page type answers a different question at a different stage, and writing them all in the same register is why so many sites feel uniform and convert unevenly.
| Page type | Reader question | What it must contain |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage | Am I in the right place? | What you do, for whom, and the two or three routes onward |
| Service page | Can you solve my specific problem? | The problem named, the method, proof, price, next step |
| Location page | Do you work where I am? | Genuine local specificity, not a template with a city swapped |
| Comparison page | How do you differ from the alternatives? | An honest comparison, including where you are not the right choice |
| Pricing page | Can I afford this? | Real numbers, what is included, and what changes the price |
| About page | Can I trust you? | Who does the work, how you operate, what you will not do |
How a service page is structured
The order below works because it matches the order a reader’s objections arrive in. Moving the price higher makes people leave sooner; moving it lower makes them leave to find it.
- 1H1 naming the service in the words people search for, not your internal name for it.
- 2A 40 to 60 word answer paragraph that says what the service is and what it costs. This is also what AI Overviews extract.
- 3The problem, described precisely enough that the right reader recognises themselves.
- 4What you actually do, in concrete steps rather than adjectives.
- 5Proof: worked examples, numbers, or what you will not promise.
- 6Price, with what changes it.
- 7FAQ answering the objections that stop people buying.
- 8One clear action, repeated once near the bottom rather than four times throughout.
A worked rewrite
The same service, written from the inside out and then from the outside in.
Before: We are a leading provider of innovative solutions with a passion for excellence. Our dedicated team leverages cutting-edge expertise to deliver bespoke outcomes tailored to each client’s unique requirements.
After: We rebuild websites that rank for nothing. Typically that means a site with 30 or 40 pages, most of them competing with each other for the same three phrases, and no page written to a query anyone actually searches. We map every page to one target query, consolidate the duplicates, and rewrite the pages that are worth keeping. From £129 per page, or £249 for the audit that tells you which pages those are.
What we do on the search side
Copy that reads well but targets nothing is half a job. Every page we write is mapped to a query before a word is drafted.
- Keyword research with difficulty scoring, so a new site targets terms it can plausibly win rather than the head term it cannot.
- A keyword to URL map assigning one query to one page, which is what prevents your own pages competing with each other.
- Intent classification, because an informational query wants a guide and a transactional one wants a price.
- Answer-first formatting under every heading, which is what generative search extracts.
- Meta title and description written to the query rather than truncated from the H1.
- Internal links mapped deliberately, up to the commercial page and laterally to siblings.
Location pages, done without doorway risk
Location pages are the most requested and the most frequently penalised kind of website content. A page per city, identical except for the place name, is a doorway page, and Google has suppressed them consistently for years.
The test we apply is simple: swap the city name through the whole page. If the result is still true, the page has no reason to exist. A Manchester page that says the same thing as a Leeds page is one page pretending to be two.
What makes a location page genuinely distinct is local specificity that took work to gather: the sectors that actually dominate employment there, the named employers, the regulations or conventions that differ, the transport or logistics realities. If you cannot supply that for a location, we will tell you the page is not worth building rather than building it anyway.
What to measure, and when
Website content is measured differently from blog content because the intent is closer to purchase. Impressions matter less; conversion rate on the page matters more.
- Position and impressions for the target query, tracked weekly. Movement here is the leading indicator.
- Scroll depth, which tells you whether the page holds people past the answer paragraph.
- Conversion rate on the page action, whether that is a form, a call or a message.
- Assisted conversions, because a service page frequently informs a decision that converts elsewhere.
- Time to first enquiry from the page, which on a new page is typically six to twelve weeks behind first impressions.

Frequently asked questions
How much does website content cost?
We charge £129 per page. A page here means a substantive page written to one target query, typically 800 to 1,500 words depending on what the query needs. A content and keyword audit, which tells you which pages are worth writing, is £249.
How many pages does my site need?
Fewer than most agencies will sell you. One page per query you can plausibly rank for, and no more. Sites with 60 thin pages consistently underperform sites with 15 substantial ones, because the thin pages compete with each other and dilute the site.
Will you work with our existing content?
Usually the better starting point. Most sites have pages already ranking on page two or three that would move with depth and better structure. Improving those is faster and cheaper than publishing new pages, and we will say so if that is what your site needs.
Do you write in our brand voice?
Yes. Send three or four pieces you think sound right and we will work from those. If you have a tone of voice document we will follow it, though in practice examples are more useful than adjectives.
How long does it take?
Three to five working days per page once research is done. A full site of 10 to 15 pages typically runs four to six weeks including the research phase and your review rounds.
